Cotton Lawn is breathable, stable, easy to press, and does what it is told under the needle. Perfect for dresses, tops, shorts, kids wear and PJs. Cotton lawn is delicate enough to create items with movement but stable enough to make it easy to work with. I would advise if using lawn for kids wear to either reinforce areas like knees/elbows/necklines as with kids clothing these areas can wear through more easily in a lighter weight fabric.

The best clothing options are things that benefit from a little structure rather than lots of fluid drape:
Shirt dresses — gingham and shirt dresses are basically old friends. Think button fronts, collars, gathered skirts, or waist ties.
Classic shirts and blouses — especially boxy shirts, camp-collar shirts, puff-sleeve blouses, or oversized styles.
Summer dresses — fit-and-flare dresses, gathered dresses, smocks, tiered dresses, pinafores, and sundresses.
Skirts — gathered skirts, A-line skirts, button-front skirts, circle skirts, and pleated skirts. The checks can look gorgeous cut on the bias for waistbands or pockets.
Pyjamas — one of my favourites for gingham. PJ bottoms, shorts, button-up pyjama tops, robes, and nightdresses.
Shorts — relaxed pull-on shorts, tailored shorts, or children’s summer shorts.
Children’s clothing — dresses, shirts, bloomers, shorts, skirts, rompers, and little matching sets. 
Peplum tops — the structure helps gathers and flounces sit beautifully.
Statement sleeve tops — puff sleeves, balloon sleeves, gathered cuffs, and big collars all work well because cotton holds shape.
Summer co-ords — matching shorts and tops, cropped shirts with skirts, or loose trousers with a simple cami.
Bias-cut details — not necessarily a whole garment, but gingham looks fantastic when pockets, cuffs, button bands, collars, or yokes are cut diagonally against the straight grain checks

How to sew notions & needles
Needles: Universal 75/11 – 80/12
Thread: White or blue matching thread can be purchased
Seams: Narrow zigzag or overlock to finish
Pressing: Low-medium heat, press/steam—don’t drag the iron as this can stretch fabric
