How to shorten a metal jeans zip (quick guide)

Mark the finished length from the bottom stop up.

Using pliers, remove metal teeth above the mark (both sides).

Add a new top stop (or stitch a tight bar-tack) just above the last tooth.

Trim excess tape. Never cut through teeth with scissors.
Sewing tips

Install with a zipper foot; baste the fly first for accuracy.

Interface fly pieces and waistband for strength and a crisp press.

Topstitch at 3.0–3.5 mm for that jeans look; go slow over bulk
